Species of birds that are a particular nuisance:

Birds can cause damage to a number of areas but the main risk is the roof. Large birds such as pigeons can dislodge tiles and cause major structural damage, their droppings are also very acidic which, if left to build up, will eat through materials and leave areas exposed.  This can be very expensive to fix,  can be unappealing and is extremely unhygienic.

Nests are another dangerous hazard and birds like to build them in areas such as drains and gutters which can cause bad flooding if not attended to. Nesting on or inside chimneys can cause fires, or in certain cases carbon monoxide poisoning. A precaution for this would be to make sure that your chimney is clear before lighting any fires as well as listening out for any birds chirping.

Birds are also carriers of diseases, alongside small parasites such as ticks, fleas and lice which can infest their nests and spread throughout properties causing havoc to domestic animals and other inhabitants.

Birds are also a major nuisance to businesses that store grain or flower along with packaged goods as they can gain access to the stores and consume a lot of the products and render the rest unfit for consumption. This could potentially cause harm to customers and if the problem is not solved or goes unnoticed it could cost a lot of money in legal fees.
